GIZ has over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment, energy and the environment, and peace and security. The agency works with businesses, civil society actors and research institutions, fostering successful interaction between development policy and other policy fields and areas of activity. GIZ has been assisting the Republic of Moldova with the difficult process of socio-economic transition since 1994. All these activities are being conducted on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and other federal ministries. GIZ also works on behalf of international organisations in the country and maintains an office in Chisinau to this end.
