GIZ - Information Security Officer

The German Development Cooperation through GIZ is looking for an Information Security Officer for the GIZ Country Office Chisinau.

The Information Security Officer is responsible for:

  • Establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system (ISMS) within GIZ Moldova;
  • Interacting and communicating with headquarter (HQ) ISM-representatives and relevant stakeholders (ISM-Team/DIGITS/Information Governance Unit);
  • Formulating solutions for complex and fundamental issues, drafting documents that facilitate decision-making and (further) developing standardised procedures and instruments;
  • Incorporating innovations and changes and making them available for general use, following consultation with GIZ’s Corporate Security Unit and once they have been approved by the Country Director;
  • Supporting and conducting internal audits for the implementation of applicable security control objectives;
  • Implementation of the risk analysis approach and execution of risk assessment on the basis of uniform scoring criteria given by HQ;
  • Knowledge management, such as training measures, in your thematic area.

In consultation with the Country Director the Information Security Officer uses his/her contacts both to act as a point of liaison for all matters in the specialist field and to strengthen alliances and cooperation arrangements on behalf of the company.

  The duties of the Information Security Officer concern complex and difficult issues that are of fundamental significance to GIZ.

 Required qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in law, public administration, development studies or related areas
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of information security with methodological competences in ISO/IEC 27001 and related standards, risk management, vulnerability management and audit (basic knowledge of IT – management systems will be helpful in fulfilling the role to the full extent and to provide better advice to responsible employees)
  • At least 5 years of professional working experience in the related field
  • Previous proven experience in development cooperation or related work for an international organization is a strong advantage
  • Full working proficiency in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Full proficiency in oral and written English and Romanian
  • Working knowledge of German and Russian is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Methodological competence in ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and risk management
  • Reliable and pro-active worker
  • Excellent relationship management and networking skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Capacity to identify and promote new and innovative digital solutions in project implementation
  • Awareness and practical knowledge on gender and diversity principles
  • Moldovan citizenship or holding permanent resident status in Moldova.
