Background

People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest relief and development organizations in post-communist Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 20 years. From 2009 onwards, PIN has added development programmes to its work in Moldova, building a vision and practices that keep people and communities at the centre of our work. Throughout its presence in the country, PIN has been contributing to the development of following sectors: Sustainable Livelihood and Environment, Social Inclusion and Protection, Good Governance.

Position overview

Short description of the project

The Project Field Assistant will be part of the project team “Supporting together the vulnerable population affected by the energy crisis”, funded by the European Union and implemented by PIN Moldova, with the involvement of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and local public authorities. The aim of the project is to provide support to vulnerable groups affected by the energy crisis. Project activities are planned for 16 months, during which time elderly people, low-income families and families with many children, people with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups will be supported with financial and material aid as needed. Under this project, social service providers and civil society organisations will be selected to receive grants to increase their capacity of providing social services to vulnerable groups.

Technical focus:

The Project Field Assistant’s primary role is to support in the implementation of the project activities under the leadership of the Project Coordinator. S/he works directly with beneficiaries while continually informs the Project Coordinator about the progress and changing conditions in the field.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • organizes and conducts individual meetings with beneficiaries;
  • supports with the distribution of financial assistance to beneficiaries;
  • collects information relevant for project implementation from communities and administration;
  • supports Monitoring department with data collection from beneficiaries;
  • supports the Project Coordinator in planning and implementing of the project;
  • continuously informs the management about progress in project activities implementation;
  • implements other project related duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator.

 

Qualification:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Good writing and speaking skills in Romanian and Russian languages. English is an advantage. 

 

Desirable skills:

  • Previous experience in community work;
  • A good listener, builds and maintains effective relationships with colleagues, team members and external partners at the community level;
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, respond quickly to requests;
  • Reliable and self-reliant personality.
