People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest relief and development organizations in post-communist Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 20 years. Throughout its presence in the country, PIN has been contributing to the development of following sectors: Sustainable Livelihood and Environment, Social Inclusion and Protection, Good Governance.

Position overview

Reports To: Finance Manager (FM henceforth)

Key communication/coordination relationships (internal):

On the country program (CP henceforth) level, the AO primarily interacts with the Finance Manager of CP in Moldova.

On the HQ level, the AO primarily interacts with the Accountant at HQ office Prague and occasionally, with the Regional Finance Manager.

Job overview:

Accounting Officer will be based in Chisinau with occasional business trips to other offices and field. Expected starting date of assignment is as soon as possible. This position is full time and requires 100% involvement.

Main responsibilities:

  • Prepare, gather and process all the finance documentation (invoices, cash documents, bank statements) for bank/cash payments and assure their completeness, quality and compliance with PIN and donor regulations;
  • Preparing of tax returns, statistical information for relevant state authority;
  • Payroll preparing & processing;
  • Preparing payments in e-banking;
  • Allocation of project costs & expenses to particular project in accordance with internal rules;
  • Archiving of invoices, contracts and other relevant documents;
  • Consulting of grantees on accounting; checking their expenses reports & uploading reports;
  • Dealing with petty cash;
  • Participation in inventory count of fixed assets & stocks;
  • Cash & bank reconciliations.

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, additional qualification would be an advantage;
  • Recent experience in accounting for at least 3 years;
  • Languages – Romanian or Russian advanced level, English medium level (speaking & writing);
  • Good working knowledge of MS office and high computer literacy is required;
  • Highly organized & attentive to small details;
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, organize and plan effectively;
  • Questioning mind and keen to learn;
  • Patient and friendly mind set.
